A practical workflow

  1. To check if a politician bought or sold a stock, start with the politician trades API or MCP tool, filter by ticker or politician bioguide identifier, and summarize trade details including dates, type, and estimated value.
  2. To determine insider buying activity for a company, use insider trades or insider sentiment data grouped by ticker, owner role, and transaction direction.
  3. To find current holdings of a politician or public portfolio, use the portfolio holdings endpoint and then the performance endpoint for date-based context.
